On November 12, 2024,
the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 3509/QD-BGDDT,
approving the project titled "Gender,
Climate Change, and Forest Landscape Governance: Insights from Lao PDR,
Myanmar, and Vietnam" (referred
to as EXPLORE-GFC project) with Vinh University acting as the Lead Institution. The project is
funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) through the
Regional Community Forestry Training Center for Asia and the Pacific (RECOFTC).
By participating in
this project, Vinh University will have the opportunity to strengthen its
position in scientific research collaboration with universities across the
ASEAN region and worldwide through the EXPLORE network, addressing shared
challenges such as climate change, forest landscape governance, and gender
equality and social inclusion.

Overall objective: Explore
the roles, rights, and responsibilities of forest-dependent women and men in
forest landscape governance and their forest-based livelihood practices under
the climate change context; thereby to ultimately enhance gender-responsive
actions in forest landscape governance and climate action in three countries of
Myanmar, Lao PDR, and Vietnam.

The RECOFTC organization and the EXPLORE program secretariat visited Vinh University
Vinh University is a member of the EXPLORE network, which
includes 30 universities and research institutes from the ASEAN region and
other countries (USA and Japan)
